Multidisciplinary artist — digital art, photography, sculpture, and installation. Searching for beauty in ugliness and ugliness in beauty.

"Searching after the beauty in the ugliness and the ugliness in the beauty — creating an illusion of the fantasy world."
Raz Jozsef (יוסי רז) is a multidisciplinary artist and photographer based in Kfar Saba, Israel. A graduate of Visual Graphic Design, Lighting Design, and History of Art at Tel Aviv University, he began his artistic journey in the analog world — in the darkroom, working with celluloid and chemical processes.
As he emerged from the darkroom into the digital age, he carried with him the same searching gaze: the camera and scanner became his tools for collecting raw material, while the computer mouse replaced the sculptor's chisel. He works across photography, digital manipulation, sculpture from reclaimed materials — wood, iron, wire, found objects — and mixed-media installation.
A defining signature of his installations is the integration of light — incandescent bulbs woven into sculptural forms, illuminating a sad story with hope. Constant observation of his surroundings feeds his imagination, connecting near and distant layers like pieces of a puzzle, making the beautiful and mysterious world accessible to those who rush past it.

The journey began in the darkroom — hands in chemical baths, light through an enlarger lens. That analog sensitivity never left. Today the camera and scanner are the gathering tools; the mouse is the chisel.
What others discard as waste becomes raw material. Wood, iron, wire, glass — collected from scrap heaps and transformed. Every found object carries a history that enriches the final work.
In every installation, a light source is integrated — an incandescent bulb that illuminates and gives hope to the sad story the work tells. Light is not decoration; it is meaning.
Constant observation and listening to the surrounding world activate the imagination. Near and distant layers connect like puzzle pieces — sometimes a simple image, sometimes a complex digital composition.
"The world is beautiful and mysterious — with a little imagination, I simplify it and make it accessible to those who rush past it in the race of life."
